Takoma Park Police ask for help in cold case

Takoma Park Police are asking the public to help them solve a cold case dating back to the summer of 2022.

On Saturday, July 16, Nurhusen Muhammed Hamid, 27, was at work as a mobile technician at the Advance Auto Parts located at 6300 New Hampshire Avenue. While he was in the parking lot Hamid was shot at around 11a.m. by an unknown suspect. The suspect fled on foot in the direction of Eastern Avenue, which sit parallel to the New Hampshire Avenue location. There, the suspect got into a waiting SUV, white in paint color. The vehicle then headed down New Hampshire Avenue toward the District of Columbia.

Hamid was taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The Takoma Park Police offer a reward of up to $10,000 in cash for information leading to an arrest in this homicide. The police ask that you call or contact Lt. Mark Elfadl at 301.891.7101 or visit the Montgomery Crime Solvers website. Tipsters will remain anonymous.
