‘The Pulse’ goes on location at Mormon Temple on 50th Anniversary of visitor’s center

It’s one of the most iconic views in Montgomery County, with six-pointed spires covered in gold and reaching nearly 300 feet in height — piercing into the sky for all to see.

“Is it a castle?,” some may say who see it from the Capital Beltway and are unfamiliar with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints’ most public display of their faith and community in the Washington, D.C. region.

Erected on a Kensington hilltop originally zoned to be a shopping center and condos back in 1974, the Mormon Temple serves as a place of worship. But few may know that its impeccably manicured surrounding grounds and Temple Visitors’ Center — now operating in its 50th year — is also a place of discovery, history and activities people of all walks of life can experience.

MCM’s news team recently visited Temple grounds take The Pulse of the awe-inspiring landmark.
