Therapeutic Kayaking Makes Water Sport Inclusive

Ahead of the 35th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), kayakers with disabilities had the opportunity to go out on the water at Little Seneca Lake in Boyds.

MCM went to Black Hill Regional Park, where Montgomery Parks hosted free therapeutic recreation kayaking Tuesday with certified instructors and adaptive equipment.

Montgomery Parks has offered adaptive paddling, but therapeutic recreation kayaking was new this spring. MCM was on site to capture participant reactions to soothing summer water sports activity, featured in the video above.

ADA was signed into law on July 26, 1990.
