Two Teens Charged with Armed Robberies in Bethesda

On Monday, July 14, detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police Major Crimes Division arrested and charged two juvenile males with three armed robberies. The robberies occurred from July 8 to 10 at Geste Beer & Wine on the 4800 block of Edgemoor Lane in Bethesda.

On Tuesday, July 8, around 4:57 p.m., officers responded to an armed robbery at the business. Investigation revealed the suspects entered the store and stole money from the cash register after threatening an employee with an implied firearm.

On Wednesday, July 9, at 9:43 p.m., officers were again alerted to Geste Beer & Wine for a second robbery.

Detectives reviewed surveillance footage from the store and nearby metro station where they obtained a description of the subjects.

On Thursday, July 10, officers proactively patrolled the area around Geste Beer & Wine. At 2:35 p.m., police observed two juvenile males matching the description of the suspects inside the store. When the suspects attempted to steal money from the cash register, police entered the store and arrested them.

Investigation confirmed the suspects also committed the previous two armed robberies at the store. Police charged each suspect with two counts of armed robbery and one count each of robbery. The case was referred to the Department of Juvenile Services. Both suspects are now held at a youth facility.
