Van Hollen Joins Social Security Rally

On Saturday, Sen. Chris Van Hollen spoke at a rally to support Social Security in the Baltimore Harbor. Designed as the kickoff for the 90th anniversary of the Social Security Act, the Senator rallied attendees to tell their representatives, “Protect our checks.”

The main message of the rally was, “Social Security is a promise — not a handout — and it’s under attack. We’re here to say: hands off our checks.”

The event launched a week of action to advocate for protecting Social Security benefits.

Other speakers included Lt. Gov. Aruna Miller and former head of Social Security and Maryland Gov., Martin O’Malley.
