During an interview with the Center For American Progress Monday, U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md) explained why he traveled to El Salvador and why he believes it is important for people to stand up to President Donald Trump.
Van Hollen met with Kilmar Abrego Garcia, who the Senator said was “essentially seized illegally,” adding, “I am not vouching for a person. I am vouching for his right to due process.”
He spoke before a supportive audience, telling them that “Trump is desperate to change the subject.”
He also discussed the arrests of college students, calling it a violation of free speech. On the subject of tariffs, he called them only beneficial to those investing in the stock market.
