Colombian Salsero Verny Varela headlines the free Wheaton TGIF Friday Encore concert on Oct. 13, at the Marian Fryer Town Plaza in Wheaton. Born in Cali, Columbia, Varela is an arranger, composer, singer and flutist.
The concert is part of a series of fall concerts that celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, which is observed from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15.
The TGIF party will begin at 5 p.m. with a DJ set. This will be followed by the concert that starts at 6 p.m.
This is the last Friday concert in the concert series.
