The development and construction firm EYA announced it will soon break ground for a walkable community on the vacant Rockshire Village Center in Rockville.
The 7.3-acre site on Wootton Parkway near Thomas Wootton High School, will include 60 homes, 5,200-square-feet of retail and open green space. There will be 31 single-family detached homes and 29 townhouses. Fifteen percent of the units will be designated as moderately priced dwelling units.
Plans for the site feature a neighborhood park, playground, recreation areas with seating and a pedestrian friendly walkway to connect to Rockshire Community Paul and local trails.
“For years, this site has sat dormant within a thriving community. We worked closely with the city and community to transform this outdated commercial site into a vibrant, walkable neighborhood,” said Aakash Thakkar, Chief Acquisitions Officer at EYA.
EYA is a large-scale developer of infill, market-rate and mixed-income townhomes and multifamily rental apartments. In Bethesda, EYA developed Strathmore View and Westbard Square.
