Montgomery County is in search of applicants to fill a number of vacancies on the Montgomery County Sports Advisory Committee.
The committee, staffed by Montgomery County Recreation, studies sports participation and opportunities in the locality. It also recognizes outstanding teams and athletes, and makes recommendations to the County Executive and the Montgomery County Council.
“Sports matter because they give kids structure along with opportunity to learn new skills, create healthy habits and make new friends,” said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich. “I encourage any resident who cares about youth sports, community access or making our system more fair and more responsive to please consider getting involved and serving on the Sports Advisory Committee,” Elrich said in a statement.
Members of the committee serve three-year terms. Public members serve without compensation but are eligible for reimbursement for travel and dependent care for in-person meetings attended.
Committee meetings occur monthly.
