County Executive Marc Elrich shared his support for U.S Rep. April McClain Delaney’s (D-Md.) call to impeach President Donald Trump.
McClain Delaney called for the impeachment this week, citing Trump’s intervention in Venezuela, alleging it was “without authorization or approval from Congress, as required by our Constitution.”
On Wednesday, Elrich said, “I think it’s great. He should have been tried after his last effort to overthrow the government. He should have been tried for treason.”
“It’s clear he has no intention of following the common rules of government,” he said. “So I think her effort to impeach him is well-deserved.”
Elrich said that he also hopes some changes in congress after the midterms. “In the next 11 months, hopefully after a new election.”
