Wheaton TGIF Summer Concert Series Begins Friday

Wheaton’s TGIF Summer Concert Series begins on Friday, June 13, and will continue through the end of August with local bands and musicians playing at Marian Fryer Town Plaza every second and fourth Friday.

Sets will run from 5 to 8 p.m., opening with a happy hour DJ set with performances beginning at 6:30 p.m.

DC-based blues band The Nighthawks are set to open the series on Friday. The second event, on June 27, will feature African-inspired world music group Sahel. Jazz composer David Bach will perform on July 11. Harikaraoke, a live karaoke band playing rock and pop classics with audiences invited to sing along, will perform on July 25. On August 8, reggae group Strykers Posse are set to perform. The final event will take place on Aug. 22 with Hermanos Galvan y Orquestra, a Latin band centering traditional Peruvian music.
