Wheaton Urban District Hosts Streetery Block Party

The Wheaton Urban District invites locals to explore the area with live music and outdoor dining at the next monthly Streetery Block Party starting on Saturday, Aug. 16.

During the Block Party, patrons can dine at local restaurants in “streeteries,” outdoor dining spaces on roads and parking lots first utilized during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“This block party series is a small but meaningful way we can use our public spaces to support local businesses and bring people together,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “We are building on experiences from the pandemic and replicating experiences that help create community.”

The event will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the intersection of Price Avenue and Elkin Street.

On the day of festivities, Elkin Street will close for traffic from the Wheaton Laundromat to Price Avenue beginning at 9:00 a.m. Parking spaces along Price Avenue will also be closed.

Upcoming Streetery Block Parties will happen on Saturday, September 20 and Saturday, October 18.
