Woman Dies in Layhill Collision

Update: Police identified the woman who died in Monday’s collisionĀ as 77-year-old Maria Perdomo of Silver Spring.

Police stated she was driving a Subaru Outback, making a left turn from northbound Layhill Road onto westbound Bel Pre Road when she collided with a driver in a Tesla Model Y who was going southbound on Layhill Road.

Original: Police said a woman died in a two-car collision Monday in the Layhill area.

Officers and fire rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Layhill and Bel Pre roads for a reported two-car collision at about 2:34 p.m., according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).

Police stated a Subaru and Tesla collided, and a woman driving was pronounced dead at the scene. A man driving the other car was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing. Detectives ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision to call (240) 773-6620. Police said more information including the name of the decedent will go out after notifying next of kin.
