As federal workers struggle to find new employment, WorkSource Montgomery is about to open a center just for them.

WorkSource Montgomery, a county agency that connects jobseekers and employers, has created a dedicated space to support displaced federal workers and contractors. Mobilize Montgomery Federal Workforce Career Center (FWCC) is expected to open in the fall.

The center’s director, Michael Covin, has 15 years of experience in this area.

FWCC will be located in WorkSource Montgomery’s Wheaton American Job Center, 11510 Georgia Ave. It will offer career coaching, resume writing, federal to private sector conversions, job search support, recruitment events, professional development, financial counseling and wellness resources.

There are close to 50,000 federal jobs with offices in Montgomery County, according to a joint study by the University of Maryland and Maryland Comptroller’s Office that was released in June. About 55,000 county residents are federal employees.
