18-Year-Old Dead After Single-Vehicle Highway Crash

Police said a single-vehicle collision on I-495 in Montgomery County killed a Virginia teen on Tuesday.

Tera King, 18, of Woodbridge, Va., was pronounced dead at the scene by Montgomery County emergency medical personnel, per a release from Maryland State Police (MSP).

King was the driver of the car, police said. A 20-year-old male was the only passenger, and he was taken to a hospital for his injuries.

Around 5 a.m. Tuesday, MSP troopers responded to the eastbound I-495 area before the route 355 exit for a reported crash with injuries. Police said occupants in a Chevrolet Cobalt traveled off the right side of the road for unknown reasons, and struck an embankment and tree.

The cause remains under investigation, police said.

MSP asks anyone with information to contact the Rockville Barrack at 301-424-2101.
