2 Juveniles, 1 Adult Charged After Traveling in Stolen Vehicle, Failing to Stop

Police said two juvenile males and one man were arrested and charged in a traffic stop after traveling in a stolen vehicle.

Lawrence Xavier Harrison, 21, of Gaithersburg, and the two juveniles face auto theft-related charges, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).

At about 1:11 a.m. on Thursday, June 29, officers were patrolling around Frederick Road and Rosecrest Drive in the Boyds area and saw a white Hyundai going northbound on Frederick at high speed with headlights off.

They followed the car and determined it was reported stolen, police said. The officers saw the vehicle take a u-turn, fail to stop at a red light and go onto northbound I-270.

When police activated their lights and sirens and tried to pull over the car on the highway, the driver failed to stop and kept going at high speed, police said, committing several infractions.

Police said the car stopped in the 8800 block of Dr. Perry Road in the Dickerson area. The juvenile driver, juvenile backseat passenger and Harrison, the front seat passenger, were taken into custody. Evidentiary items were found through a search of the Hyundai.

The juveniles were charged and released to their parents.

Harrison had an arrest warrant from Virginia and Maryland State Police, according to MCPD.

According to police, he faces charges of “Unauthorized Removal of Motor Vehicle, Unlawful Taking of Motor Vehicle, Theft $1,500-$25,000 and Rogue and Vagabond,” and was released on a $3,000 unsecured personal bond.
