On Friday, June 27, at approximately 4:21 p.m., officers located a stolen vehicle near Old Columbia Pike. The vehicle continued traveling north, evading the officers until it turned off at the intersection of Copland Court and Fairland Road. Riding in the car were a 13-year-old, two 16-year-olds and 2 adults. The suspects struck the median and fled the scene. They were found by the officers in the nearby neighborhood.
In one of the 16-year-old’s bags, officers found a loaded handgun, and in the other 16-year-old’s bag, two loaded handguns, one stolen and one with its serial number removed. That qualified the weapon as a “ghost gun.”
The 13-year-old suspect has been charged with vehicle theft and referred to the Juvenile Department, while the other four suspects are being charged as adults.
The two adult males, identified as 18-year-old Nyveek Ross of Silver Spring and 19-year-old Kamonte Frazier of Columbia, have been charged with obstructing and hindering, disorderly conduct, and vehicle theft charges.
The two 16-year-olds are charged with obstructing and hindering, disorderly conduct, vehicle theft, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and related charges.
