5 Things to Know Today, April 13, In Montgomery County

It’s Thursday, April 13, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Budget Public Hearing: Today at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

County Executive Marc Elrich sent his recommended Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 operating budget to the council last month. As part of his budget announcement, Elrich proposed a 10-cent property tax increase.

2. Transportation: Hybrid Public Meeting from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on the Washington Grove Connector project, which will evaluate the feasibility of a master-planned bike trail connection. The project will help connect the terminus of Crabbs Branch Way to the Town of Washington Grove and the City of Gaithersburg. The project will also improve connectivity to the Shady Grove Metro and retail and commercial areas south of MD-200 / I-370.

3. Pedestrian Safety Outreach: The MCDOT Pedestrian Safety Team will be outside from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Veterans Plaza in downtown Silver Spring to promote pedestrian, driving, and bike safety to the residents of Montgomery County.

4. Montgomery College: Artwork by 170 Montgomery College students will be projected on the Rockville campuses’ humanities building from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

5. Food Distribution: From 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Clifton Park Baptist Church, 8818 Piney Branch Rd
