5 Things to Know Today, April 3, In Montgomery County

The forecast calls for a partly cloudy day with a high temp in the 70s. Here are five things to know today, Monday, April 3.

1. Spring Break: The public schools are closed today through Monday, April 10.

2. Council: The Council does not meet Tuesday, April 4. There are no scheduled committee meetings nor public hearings this week.

3. Municipal Monday:  The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council meet at 7:30 p.m. tonight for a regular session including a public hearing on the Fiscal Year 2024 budget and tax rate. The meeting agenda and information packet is available online. The Rockville Mayor and Council do not meet this week, their next scheduled meeting takes place Monday, April 17. The Poolesville Town Commissioners meet at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall for a public hearing on the Fiscal Year 2024 budget and tax rate. The agenda may be found online.

4. Dominique Dawes Gym Opens: 1996 Olympic gold medalist and Silver Spring native Dominique Dawes opened her second gymnastics and ninja academy on Saturday. MyMCM was there.

5. Poolesville in the News:

Last week the latest efforts to reopen Historic White’s Ferry to commuters and locals collapsed. MyMCM visited the area to talk with two prominent members of the community about the ongoing stalemate.
