5 Things to Know Today, April 4, In Montgomery County

Today is Monday, April 4 and here are five things to know happening in Montgomery County today.

1. Council President Briefing: Council President Gabe Albornoz and Acting Health Officer Dr. James Bridgers will hold a media briefing today at 11 a.m. to discuss Council matters and and provide a public health update. The briefing will be streamed on the Council’s Facebook page here.

2. Municipal Monday:  The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. The agenda and information packet may be found online. Poolesville Town Commissioners meet at 7 p.m., here is the agenda. The Rockville Mayor and Council meet at 7 p.m. The agenda and information may be found online.

3. Job Search Workshops: The libraries host a number of workshops and career counseling sessions during April. Today, individual virtual counseling sessions are available form 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Registration is required. Also at 1 p.m. a virtual workshop on best practices for conducting a job search is available. Registration is required.

4. COVID-19 Test Kits and N95 Masks:The libraries continue to distribute rapid COVID-19 test kits and N95 masks. Residents may stop by their branch  and pick up the kits and masks. The county is also distributing the more reliable PCR test kits at five recreation centers and the Dennis Avenue Health Center.

5. COVID-19 Vaccinations and Boosters Available: County-run clinics provide second COVID-19 booster shots as recommended by the FDA and CDC. The county recommends residents make an appointment through the COVID-19 Information Portal.
