It’s Friday, Aug. 25, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Foodie Fridays: Rhiannon Smith, founder of Takoma Park-based Kiyoshi Botanicals, will host a discussion from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Josiah Henson Museum and Park. The event is for ages 21+ and registration is required. Admission is $10 and includes light refreshments, one alcoholic beverage and admission to the museum that is redeemable during regular hours. There is limited parking at the museum.

2. Eco.Art Extravaganza: Today is the deadline for artists to apply to this year’s nationwide Eco.Art Extravaganza.

3. Capital Crescent Trail: Work is expected to continue today to renovate lighting in the Capital Crescent Trail Dalecarlia Tunnel under MacArthur Boulevard. People should expect slowdowns and stoppages between 7:30 a.m.-2 p.m., per Montgomery Parks.

5. ICYMI: From Rockville to Boston’s Fenway Park, Gabrielle Zwi uses their voice and ukulele to communicate. The Walter Johnson High School graduate, who has a degree from Columbia University, plays in a band and works with Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) students after school in a music program.
