5 Things to Know Today, Feb. 26, In Montgomery County

1. Mobile Market: The Universities at Shady Grove’s Mobile Market free food distribution is back from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. Stop by Lot 5, bring your grocery bags, and pick up some food. The market welcomes all volunteers, sign up here if interested in helping. Participants can park in lot 2 at no cost. The market will move indoo0rs to Room G318 in the Biomedical Sciences and Engineering Building inclement weather.

2. Council President Briefing: Council President Andrew Friedson’s weekly media briefing is scheduled today at 11:30 a.m. Friedson is expected to discuss the Council’s upcoming review of Bill 45-23 as well as other Council issues. Watch today’s briefing on the Council’s Facebook page here.

3. Silver Spring Recreation and Aquatic Center Opens: Downtown Silver Spring has a new recreation center with indoor pools. The county celebrated with a grand opening Saturday.

4. Municipal Monday:  The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council meet at 7:30 p.m. for a work session on zoning. The agenda and agenda packet are available online. The Rockville Mayor and Council meet at 7 p.m. at City Hall with a full agenda.

5. ICYMI: In an interview with MCM, Silver Spring resident Judy Richardson talks about her years as a Civil Rights organizer and now her work making documentary films. Richardson says you need to change the world for better.
