5 Things to Know Today, Jan. 5, In Montgomery County

It’s Wednesday, Jan. 5 and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Hypothermia Alert: Montgomery County is under a Hypothermia Alert until noon. The alert is sent when temperature/wind chill is forecast to go below 32 degrees.

2. County Executive Candidate Forum: Tonight at 7 p.m., candidates for Montgomery County Executive will discuss issues surrounding affordable housing, renters’ rights, and the eviction crisis during a virtual public forum. The event will be livestreamed on MyMCM’s Facebook page and simulcast on YouTube. It will also be available for viewing on County Cable Montgomery.

3. Weekly Briefing: County Executive Marc Elrich and health leaders will hold their media briefing at 12:30 p.m. Residents can watch live on MCM channels 21 and 995 (HD), County Cable Montgomery and on the county’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

4. Food Distribution: Stop by the Clifton Park Baptist Church at 8818 Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring from 8:30 -11 a.m. for a food distribution.

5. Senior Planet: Senior Planet Montgomery continues to offer free Zoom classes to senior residents. Today’s classes include “Open Group Tech Talk about Zoom Hosting” and “Spotify.”
