5 Things to Know Today, July 24, In Montgomery County

Today is Monday, July 24 and here are five things to know today. Weather forecasters tell us to expect thunderstorms with highs in the mid 80s.

1. County Animal Shelter Waives Fees: The Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCASAC) still needs homes for large dogs to alleviate overcrowding. MCASAC is open today from noon to 7 p.m. Telephone 240.773.5900 if you have questions.

2. Mobile Market:  The Universities at Shady Grove’s Mobile Market free food distribution is back from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. Stop by Lot 5 (visitor’s parking lot), bring your grocery bags, and pick up some food. The market welcomes all volunteers, sign up here if interested in helping.

3. WSSC “Get Current” Program Deadline: The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission Water’s program to assist customers behind on their water bill is now Monday, Aug 31.

4. Silver Spring Arts Salon: Creatives are invited to this virtual arts salon tonight from 5 to 7 p.m. Creatives are invited to share their works that explore the cosmos. Artist Camila Bryce-LaPorte hosts tonight’s salon. Free, registration is requested.

5. Municipal Monday:  The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council meet for a work session at 7:30 p.m. The agenda and agenda packet are available online. The Rockville Mayor and Council do not meet this week.
