5 Things to Know Today, June 26, In Montgomery County

Today is Monday, June 26 and here are five things to know today. Weather forecasters tell us to expect thunderstorms in the evening. High temperatures forecast in the upper 80s.

1. Council President Briefing: Council President Evan Glass will meet with the media today at 1:30 p.m. to discuss work to create an Anti-Hate Task Force in the County. The briefing will be streamed on the Council’s Facebook page here.

2. Metrobus ‘Courtesy Stops’: Metrobus now offers nighttime riders the option to request “courtesy stops” from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. This new service gives riders the option to get off the bus between the usual designated stops and closer to their destination. This new service started Sunday, June 25.

3. Council Committee Work: Three of the seven council committees meet today. All sessions are televised live on County Cable Montgomery and streamed on YouTube.

4. Montgomery Serves Awards: The Montgomery Serves Awards ceremony takes place Monday in Bethesda at the Imagination Stage. The awards honor extraordinary volunteers and community leaders in Montgomery County.

5. MCM Wins 5 Emmys: Montgomery Community Media took home five Emmys Saturday evening at the 65th annual Emmy Awards organized by the National Academy of Arts & Sciences, National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter.
