1. Minimum Wage: Today, the minimum wage increases by 50 cents for workers across Montgomery County.
2. U.S. Adaptive Open: Golfers with impairments will compete in the U.S. Adaptive Open championship next week at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville. MCM talked to Ford Martin, a Potomac native with bilateral neurogenic clubfoot. This will be his second U.S. Adaptive Open.
3. Council: The County Council is on recess until July 8.
4. Supreme Court Ruling: Last week, the Supreme Court affirmed the rights of parents to let their children opt out of LGBTQ+ readings in public schools. The case, Mahmoud v. Taylor, was filed in 2023 by county parents frustrated by Montgomery County Public Schools’ policy.
