1. May Day: Nationwide protests are planned Friday for May Day, also known as International Workers’ Day — the day commemorating workers’ rights.
2. Free deck inspections: Starting Friday, the county’s Department of Permitting Services offers free residential deck maintenance inspections throughout May as part of Building Safety Month. See more here
3. Ride On: From 6-9 a.m., a Ride On outreach team will be at the Silver Spring and Glenmont Metro Stations to talk about bus service changes that start Sunday.
4. Council: There will be a County Council committee meeting at 9:30 a.m. to review the public schools budget.
5. ICYMI: A Silver Spring woman became the first Montgomery County resident to receive a rare stem cell therapy for sickle cell disease.
