5 Things to Know Today, May 1, In Montgomery County

Today is Monday, May 1 and here are five things to know today. Weather forecasters tell us to expect a breezy day with cloudy skies and showers in the afternoon.

1. Council President Briefing: Council President Evan Glass will meet with the media today at 1 p.m. to discuss the Council’s budget deliberations and other council business. The briefing will be streamed on the Council’s Facebook page here.

2. Municipal Monday:  The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council meet at 7:30 p.m. in-person at City Hall and virtually. The agenda and agenda packet is available online. The Rockville Mayor and Council meet at 7 p.m. The agenda with supporting documents is available online.

3. Property Tax Credit Deadline: Today is the last day to apply for the County’s Income Tax Offset Credit which grants residents who live in the property they own a $692 credit. More information may be found here.

4. Budget Discussion: County Executive Marc Elrich will hold his sixth community discussion about the Fiscal Year 2025 Capital Improvements Program (CIP) budget from 7-8:30 p.m. The virtual event will have five online discussions. One is the main discussion on the FY25 Capital Budget. The other four will be specific breakout discussions on education, environment and parks, transportation and recreation/libraries/general services. Learn how to participate here.

5. Deck Inspection: Homeowners may schedule a free deck inspection during the month of May with the County, but there are only 300 slots available.
