5 Things to Know Today, May 22, In Montgomery County

Today is Monday, May 22 and here are five things to know today and the 10 day weather forecast.

1. Ride On Food Drive: The county’s annual food drive happens now through Saturday, May 27. Donate a non-perishable food item on any Ride On bus and your ride is free. Please note, if transferring to another bus, bring an additional donation to receive that ride free.

2. Kick Off to Summer Week: May is Visit Montgomery’s Discover MoCo Month. Residents can explore the county’s participating museums, attractions, downtown centers and more during the fourth and final week of the Discover MoCo Month event. 3. Municipal Monday:  The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council meet at 7:30 p.m. for a closed work session. The agenda and agenda packet are available online. The Rockville Mayor and Council meet at 7 p.m. The agenda with supporting documents is available online. Joyce Tian, winner of the “If I Were Mayor Contest” will receive a certificate of recognition during the meeting.

4. University of Maryland Commencement: CBS Mornings co-anchor and University of Maryland alum (Class of 1976) Gayle King will deliver the 2023 commencement address tonight at 7 p.m.

5. LWVMC Trending Topic: The League of Women Voters offers a series of educational webinars on topics the League is studying. Tonight’s webinar looks at the digital divide in the county and is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Learn more and register here.
