It’s Thursday, Sept. 21, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Montgomery Planning Board Meeting: The Board meets today from 9 a.m. to 4:20 p.m. with a full agenda available online including three public hearings. The meeting will stream live on the Montgomery Planning website here and also on the Montgomery Planning YouTube channel here.

2. Preventing Catalytic Converter Thefts: In partnership with the Montgomery County Police Department, Graeves Auto & Tire in Olney will etch an unique identifier on catalytic converters today between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. County residents may bring their car in today, by appointment, for this free service. 3. County Executive’s Weekly Media Briefing:  The briefing occurs today at noon. The public may watch live on the County’s Facebook page or the County’s YouTube channel.

4. Budget Forum: Today’s forum will be held in Spanish and takes place from 7-8:30 p.m. at Mid-County Community Recreation Center (Layhill), 2004 Queensguard Road, Silver Spring. Social hall.

5. Kaiser Healthcare Strike Earlier this week, thousands of Kaiser Permanente healthcare workers in Maryland, Washington D.C. and Virginia voted to strike if their demands aren’t met by Sept. 30. A national bargaining session with Kaiser is scheduled for today and tomorrow. The union will call for a two week strike starting Saturday, Sept. 30 if their demands are not met.
