1. Community Remembers Ida Pearl Green: Ida Pearl Green is remembered as matriarch, church member, the “Avon Lady,” and a person who touched countless lives in her 106 years. More than 100 people attended Green’s funeral service Monday morning at Fairhaven United Methodist Church.
2. Green Fest Featured Eco-Friendly Fun: The threat of rain didn’t keep people from the 10th annual Montgomery Community Green Fest at the Marian Fryer Plaza in Wheaton on Saturday.
3. Council Meeting: The county council will meet today starting at 9 a.m. The meeting will be livestreamed on YouTube @MoCoCouncilMD.
4. State of the County: During his State of the County speech last week, County Executive Marc Elrich addressed the current national political climate’s impact on our county, as well as education, economic development, and housing.
5. ICYMI: A case that started with a group of Montgomery County parents asking to opt their kids out of LGBTQ+ storybooks in schools went to the Supreme Court last week. While the proceeding went on inside, groups outside rallied on both sides of the issue.
