750 American flags will fly at Bohrer Park in Gaithersburg over Memorial Day weekend to honor community heroes.
Now in its 11th year, the “Flags for Our Heroes” exhibit features eight-foot-tall American flags displayed in tribute to individuals who have made a difference in someone’s life. The Rotary Clubs of Gaithersburg and Historic Emory Grove organize the event, with support from the City of Gaithersburg.
Residents and businesses can sponsor a flag in honor of a personal hero—such as a loved one, friend, mentor, or a member of the military, past or present.
The opening celebration will take place Saturday, May 24, at 11 a.m. A flag retirement ceremony will follow on Sunday, May 25, at 6:30 p.m.
