A bond review hearing for Catherine Hoggle has been postponed to Tuesday.
More than a decade after her two young kids went missing from Montgomery County Hoggle has been arrested and charged again with murdering the children. Diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, she was arrested after her release from a psychiatric hospital.
The bond hearing was scheduled for Monday in Circuit Court, but Hoggle’s defense attorney David Felsen requested a postponement.
Addressing media afterward, Felsen claimed “there has been no change in Catherine’s condition.” While Hoggle was released from the psychiatric hospital, Felsen said his understanding is that she was still under a civil commitment.
“Even when the State asked for their own doctor, that doctor said that she was incompetent,” Felsen said. “I don’t think anything has changed. There has been no presentation of any evidence that anything has changed. We’ll deal with the issue of bond tomorrow.”
The mother from Clarksburg was previously charged with murdering her children, Jacob and Sarah Hoggle. But she was found incompetent to stand trial, and the charges were dropped in 2022.
The children were last seen in her care in September 2014, when they were two and three-years-old. The children remain missing to this day.
Hoggle was indicted by a grand jury July 31 on two counts of first-degree murder, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office. She was arrested Friday. She is being held at the County’s central processing unit, pending the bond hearing.
County State’s Attorney John McCarthy did not address media following the postponement.
