County leaders cut the ribbon on a new pedestrian bridge in the Kemp Mill area of Silver Spring. The bridge is dedicated to Nicki Toys, a Kemp Mill resident who died from cancer in 2023.
Nicki’s husband, Aaron, and children participated in the event on Thursday.
“Without the enthusiasm of both Nicki and her husband Aaron, this bridge would not have happened,” said Jonathan Aghion, Vice President of the Kemp Mill Civic Association.
The bridge lets residents walk safely over a tributary, according to the county. It improves the existing walking path between Auth Lane and Kersey Road. Erosion made the creek harder to cross over the years.
