
Update (4:50 p.m.): Police identified the victim as 29-year-old Akwalabeng Fontava.
Sheldon Milan Boykins, 37, of Hyattsville, is charged with two counts of kidnapping and firearms-related offenses, according to an update from police Monday afternoon. Detectives are still searching for two more men believed to be involved.
Officers found Fontava inside an apartment with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to police, a man and woman who were also in the apartment were allegedly kidnapped and forced into a car after the shooting. The man was released in Silver Spring and detectives found the car at Westfield Montgomery mall, where the woman was found with Boykins.

Original (2:10 p.m.): A death investigation in North Bethesda became a homicide investigation after a man was found dead Sunday.
Officers and fire rescue went to the 5900 block of Montrose Road around 7:45 a.m. Sunday morning, according to the Montgomery County Police Department. Officers found a man dead inside an apartment.
A full autopsy will determine the cause and manner of death.
No one is in custody and no suspect information is available, according to police Sunday afternoon. The investigation is ongoing.
The victim’s name will be shared after notification of next of kin.
UPDATE: The death investigation in the 5900 block of Montrose Road is now being investigated as a homicide. One adult male was located inside of an apartment. Major Crimes is on scene.
