1. Mayor Jud Ashman Wins a Fourth Term: Gaithersburg Mayor Jud Ashman, who is also a member of the Board of Directors at Montgomery Community Media, brought home his fourth consecutive win in the City of Gaithersburg‘s 2025 mayoral race Tuesday, Nov. 4. The unofficial Election Day results posted Tuesday evening on the city’s website. Voters also reelected Councilmembers Jim McNulty and Lisa Henderson. MCM went to the watch party to get the early vote count.

2. Elrich Calls Proposed Federal Housing Cuts ‘Obscene’ in Protest to Plan: Many residents of Seneca Heights Apartments in Gaithersburg have faced serious setbacks in their lives, including spending time living on the streets, but thanks to funding from Montgomery County and the federal Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH), they are living in their own apartments now and getting their lives together. That could all change, and quickly, if a proposal by the U.S. Congress to slash PSH funding by 70% is adopted.

3. New Warehouse: The Montgomery County Public Schools Board of Education recently approved a lease for a new warehouse in Gaithersburg.

4. What Takoma Park Teacher is a ‘Jeopardy!’ Champion?: Takoma Park Middle School teacher Joseph Evans doesn’t sit around memorizing facts. He has only participated in a couple of trivia competitions at bars, so when he got the call that he was going to be on Jeopardy! he wondered, “am I one of the lambs going to the slaughter kind of contestant?” Turns out he did just fine, winning Tuesday night and coming in second on Wednesday’s show. He earned a total of $18,529.
