One person was killed Sunday evening in a crash on Cherry Hill Road, a collision that left a key stretch of the roadway closed for hours.
Police said calls came in just before 10 p.m., reporting of a wreck near the area of Prosperity Drive in Calverton. Officers and fire crews arrived to find a heavily damaged vehicle and a victim, who was later pronounced dead at the scene.
The Montgomery County Police Department has not released the person’s identity, pending notification of next of kin. The full extent of the crash remains under investigation. The section of Cherry Hill Road between Prosperity Drive and O’Fallon Street was closed overnight as investigators worked to determine what may have led to the fatal collision.
Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have been driving through the area with a dashcam around that time, to contact police.
