Seventy years ago, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man while riding a Montgomery, Alabama bus.
Her actions kicked off the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which was led by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. That boycott lasted more than a year and finally ended when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled bus segregation was unconstitutional.
In her honor, the Montgomery County Department of Transportation has placed placards inside nearly 400 Ride On buses that will remain throughout the month of December.
Nationally, Dec. 1 is remembered as Rosa Parks Day.
