A 17-year-old Northwood High School student was charged with possession of a firearm on school property.
Montgomery County police officers went to the high school located at 11211 Old Georgetown Road in Rockville Friday at 8:23 a.m. in response to a report of a student with a gun. The caller told police that two students were fighting inside the school and that a witness reported to school staff that one of the students had a gun.
Police conducted a search and arrested the student after locating a 3D-printed, privately manufactured weapon on his waistband. He was arrested without incident and charged with possession of a firearm without a serial number and possession of a firearm by a minor among other charges.
The Silver Spring student was charged as an adult and is expected to have a bond hearing soon.
