Congresswoman McClain Delaney calls for Trump impeachment

Congresswoman April McClain Delaney (D-Md.) called for the impeachment of President Donald Trump in a post to her House website Monday, citing his intervention in the government of Venezuela “…without authorization or approval from Congress, as required in our Constitution…”

McClain Delaney, who represents Maryland’s 6th Congressional District, accused Trump of a number of additional actions she called unsanctioned in her post, including:

  • Illegally dismantling federal agencies
  • Cruel immigration raids
  • An unlawful trade war
  • Escalating international tensions
  • Military threats against Colombia and Greenland

“I cannot stand by as my Republican colleagues allow President Trump to defy the rule of law, repeatedly overstep the authority of Congress and undermine our national security and the well-being of my fellow Americans,” McClain Delaney stated.

Noting she considered each action to be impeachable on its own merit, McClain Delaney asked the Democratic Caucus ” to imminently consider impeachment proceedings.”

This call for impeachment rates as the third since Trump regained the presidency. McClain Delaney joins an increasing chorus of Democrats to hold the President accountable.
