Hogan will not run for governor again

Former Gov. Larry Hogan announced he will not seek election as Governor in the upcoming election cycle. His announcement appeared in a guest commentary published by the Baltimore Sun.

The two-term former governor remains highly popular among voters. A recent poll by the Gonzales Research and Media showed 38% of Marylanders would vote for him with 10% of respondents undecided. 52% of those polled favored incumbent Gov. Wes Moore.

Hogan wrote, “I care deeply about the state of Maryland, and I remain concerned about the direction of our nation’s politics, but I have no intention of running for office again.”

According to a poll conducted by Ragnar Research, Hogan maintains high voter approval with 76% of respondents giving his leadership of the state high marks.

Most recently Hogan ran for the U.S. Senate. He was defeated in the 2024 race by Angela Alsobrooks. Hogan garnered 42% of the vote compared with Alsobrooks at 54%.
