The Montgomery County GOP looks to make another amendment to the county charter in this election year. In 2024, they succeeded in limiting the reelection of the county executive to two terms. Now, they have their sights set on limiting the county budget.
They call their campaign Stop the Spend. On Tuesday, they delivered more than 10,000 petitions signed by registered voters to the County Executive Building for verification by the Board of Elections.
The group hopes to bring another set of signed petitions to Rockville next week. The Board of Elections can accept the petitions until July 27. If successful, Stop the Spend will appear on the ballot in the county on Nov. 3.
