Residents who want to run for public office have until Feb. 24 at 9 p.m. to file for the primary election in June.
Candidates can run for the following county positions:
- Executive, council
- State’s Attorney
- Clerk of the Circuit Court
- Register of Wills
- Sheriff
- Board of Education (districts with opening only)
- Republican or Democratic central committee.
Candidates are required to file a Certificate of Candidacy with the Montgomery County Board of ElectionsΒ located at 18753 N. Frederick Avenue, Suite 210, in Gaithersburg. Appointments are encouraged but walk-ins are accepted
Individuals interested in filing for any federal or state office should contact the Maryland State Board of Elections.
The Montgomery County Board of Elections is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
