Maryland State Police plan to ramp up patrols during the St. Patrick’s Day Weekend and keep an eye out for aggressive, distracted and impaired drivers.
From Friday through Tuesday, March 17, state troopers will conduct high-visibility enforcement efforts along I-495 and I-270 as well as many other places across the state.
Police advise that those attending a St. Patrick’s Day celebration should designate a sober driver before going out and give that person your car keys. Consider using public transportation. Call a taxi or use a ride-share service, and do not let friends drive if you think they are impaired.
If you are hosting a St. Patrick’s Day event, remember you can be held liable if someone you served alcohol to is involved in an impaired driving crash. Serve plenty of food and non-alcoholic beverages and ensure sober drivers or alternative modes of transportation are set up in advance for guests who are planning to drink alcoholic beverages.
