The Mubadala DC Open, Washington DC’s premier professional tennis tournament since 1969, returns to Rock Creek Park Tennis Center this summer, July 25 - August 2. As the only combined ATP-WTA 500-level event in the world and the fifth-largest professional tennis tournament in the United States, the Mubadala DC Open promises nine days of world-class competition and unforgettable fan experiences in the nation’s capital.

This year’s player field features top ATP and WTA stars, including Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Naomi Osaka, Venus Williams, Elina Svitolina, defending champions Alex de Minaur and Leylah Fernandez, and more.

Beyond the court, fans will enjoy elevated cuisine from six Michelin-starred chefs, including Patrick O'Connell and Ryan Ratino. This fun experience for the family showcases local businesses displaying a wide assortment of unique trucks and equipment. You can get up close to your favorite vehicles and learn from their operators. An adult must accompany children. Please keep in mind that the horns on the trucks are as loud as the trucks are large, so if you feel your child may be sensitive to the noise, we recommend you attend during the quiet hour.

Neil Foley carries on the tradition of Irish Folk and Fiddle music. He grew up in Limerick, Ireland then moved to the DC area where he has toured and played for over 4 decades. He enjoys playing as a duet with his son, Con, a guitarist and drummer. The Foleys stay true to the Celtic music that can be heard in Irish music sessions all across the world.

This station is in the National Register of Historic Places, a Montgomery County Historic Site, and a gem in Silver Spring’s Arts & Entertainment District.

Please note that the number of parking spaces is limited. Additional parking is available one block away at county garage and lot #4, 8100 Fenton Street, with an additional entrance off of Sligo Avenue. Traffic and crosswalk lights facilitate crossing Georgia Avenue at Sligo Avenue in front of the station.

There is a special needs space and ramp at the station, along with an accessible entrance and restroom.

A biography digging deeper in to the story of Josiah Henson, restoring to history his role in the Underground Railroad

From the plantation fields of Maryland, to the Georgetown Market, to the plantations of Kentucky; escaping to freedom in Canada, and being introduced to the Queen in England, Josiah Henson led a fascinating life. Born enslaved, Henson eventually escaped and became a respected minister and famed secular leader.

“My Name Is Not Tom” is a biography of Josiah Henson, the man catapulted into fame after Harriet Beecher Stowe noted that events in his life partially influenced the development of her fictional character, Uncle Tom. While previous biographies have relied heavily on Henson's four autobiographies (dictated under duress), which replicated the myth that he was the sole inspiration for Stowe’s character, "My Name is Not Tom" uses novel primary source research to fill in the untold parts of his extraordinary life. The author examines Henson's views of slavery and morality, which changed substantially over the course of his life.

This show is the 2nd annual salon-style, hodgepodge exhibition, and serves as a Thank You to WCA members based in DC, MD, and VA. Pamela Joy Trow shares a mini-solo exhibit in the Lounge Gallery and Resident Artists exhibit in the Gallery Hall. Enjoy the sculptural work of Francis Maduka Uduh in studio 11, along with nineteen Gallery 209 Member Artists exhibiting their latest work. Join us in the park after dark to look for moths. We’ll set up a mothing station designed to attract these beautiful yet secretive nocturnal animals. Our insect enthusiasts will be on hand to help us identify what we find as we collect data for an ongoing study. Bring a lawn chair and extra layers, as well as a headlamp or flashlight. The mothing station will be set up a short walk from the parking lot. You must be comfortable walking in the woods at night on natural surface trails. Bring your own snacks and drinks to keep your stamina! Participants may leave at any time and do not have to stay for the duration of the program. In the event of rain, we cancel.

One of Broadway's biggest stars joins us for a special one-night-only concert, performing songs from some of her biggest hits, as well as personal favorites, and perhaps a few surprises!

Sutton Foster is a two-time Tony Award-winning performer, whose career spans Broadway, film, and television. Her rise to stardom is one of the most unique stories in Broadway history. Ms. Foster, who was working as an understudy on the world-premiere production of Thoroughly Modern Millie, was thrust into the leading role at the last minute. Rave reviews of the musical and Ms. Foster’s performance brought the show to Broadway, and she won her first Tony Award. Her performances in beloved works like Anything Goes, The Music Man, Once Upon A Mattress, Sweeney Todd, and Into the Woods, among many others, have also received wide-spread acclaim. Additional programming includes the Fair Reading Program for children ages 2–12, home arts competitions such as cheese carving, flower arranging, and fashion shows, and daily entertainment across the fairgrounds.

Highlights include livestock and agricultural exhibits, 4-H and FFA youth showcases, carnival rides, food vendors, contests, and family activities. Grandstand attractions feature Monster Trucks, the Sheehy-sponsored Demolition Derby, Rodeo performances, and Touch-a-Truck.

Additional programming includes the Fair Reading Program for children ages 2–12, home arts competitions such as cheese carving, flower arranging, and fashion shows, and daily entertainment across the fairgrounds.

Children 11 and under receive free admission every day.

Join us for Kiddie Academy of Gaithersburg’s 10th Annual Children’s Art show & Charity Auction – an afternoon dedicated to creativity, culture, community, and giving back. 

Our Students have spent months creating original works of art that showcase their immagination, artistic growth, and appreciation for the world around them. During the event, families and community members will have the opportunity to explore a gallery of student artwork, participate in a charity auction, and experience cultural displays created by our Academy families. 

What to Expect

• 100% of the prcceeds from our charity auction will benefit The Chesapeake Bay Trust
• A student art gallery featuring original artwork from every classroom
