Forget GPS.
All you have to do to find the route that Washington Nationals All-Star outfielder James Wood took to make it from Olney to the big leagues is right there on his feet.
For Tuesday night’s All-Star game in Philadelphia, Wood wore custom cleats celebrating his second stint in the Midsummer Classic.
One cleat was the road map from his hometown of Olney to Nationals Park. The other cleat featured the Washington, D.C. skyline.
Wood appeared in one game for the National League, going 0-1 with a strikeout.
The 2026 showcase marked the second consecutive All-Star appearance for the Washington Nationals outfielder. He entered the break batting .279 with 28 home runs and 64 RBIs.
Wood grew up playing Little League baseball for the Olney Boys and Girls Club. He was drafted by the San Diego Padres in 2021 and then traded to the Nationals in 2022.
