Montgomery County’s Department of Transportation is asking riders whether the Glenmont Express Shuttle should continue after Metro’s summer Red Line closure ends Sept. 6. And if it does, what should that service look like for commuters.
The county’s transportation officials launched a nine-question online survey this week, according to a Friday statement. In it, they also want to know if riders would use a regular Ride On bus if it replaced the temporary express bus.
MCDOT also asks if riders would be interested in more frequent service or expanded hours, like weekday midday and evening service and weekend service. MCDOT also asks riders to specify whether they began using the Glenmont Express because of the Red Line disruption or because they found service convenient.
The Glenmont Express Shuttle was one of 20 commuter routes affected by the service interruptions which started June 6.
The shuttle, which is free, connects the Milestone Park-and-Ride with Shady Grove and Glenmont Metro stations.
More than 200,000 people have been impacted by the Red Line service interruption, according to an NBC Washington report.
The online survey may determine whether some form of bus service between Shady Grove and Glenmont should continue after the current shuttle ends.
MCDOT spokesperson Emily DeTitta told MCM the survey is anonymous. But it does ask for the participant’s zip code, and other personal details. The survey will be open through at least Sunday, Sept. 6, when the trains are planned to be back up and running.
