The Washington Commanders have added a new member to the team, and he is the cutest rookie on the roster.
TJ, a Labrador Retriever, joined the Commanders in June as the team’s newest team dog. The puppy will spend the upcoming season around the players and coaches, attending team events and select home games while continuing his training to become a service dog for veterans.
TJ comes to Washington through the team’s partnership with Warrior Canine Connection , a Maryland nonprofit that trains service dogs and works with veterans. His time with the Commanders will give him the chance to learn basic skills and commands while helping connect the team with service members, veterans and their families.
The Commanders have had team dogs before, including Barney in 2024, continuing a tradition that combines football, community involvement and support for veterans.
Fans can expect to see TJ cheering on the Commanders this fall.
