Montgomery County recently announced the launch of an app called Connect Montgomery.
The new mobile platform aims to bring together, in one place, informational videos about local announcements, programs and services for residents. This content normally can be seen on the county’s local public access television channels.
County Executive Elrich said the initiative is a collaboration between public education and government access media producers. The concept – to create hyper-local content and make it easier for residents to access information. The app can be downloaded for free from users’ preferred app store.
“I am pleased to see our county departments and access media partners working together to find new and innovative ways to reach our residents,” Elrich said in a news release.
Through the platform, residents can learn more about arts, local communities, education, government, Spanish-language content, youth programs and other topics.
“This represents evidence of a potent new approach to access media products by capitalizing on the consolidated efforts of all of the county’s channels,” said Gail Roper, the County’s Chief Information Officer.
Some of the content on the Connect Montgomery app can also be found on the county’s local channels and digital platforms, including:
- County Cable Montgomery (CCM)
- Montgomery Community Media (MCM)
- Montgomery County Public Schools TV (MCPSTV)
- Montgomery College Television (MCTV)
The video content in the app will be updated twice a month according to local officials.
