Spirit star to celebrate young local soccer standouts

Montgomery County is a hotbed for youth soccer. Now, there is an opportunity for players to be rewarded for their play on and off the field.

Washington Spirit star Tara Rudd is calling on D.C.-area families to recognize the young soccer players making a difference in their communities by nominating them for the CVS Health’s Home Team Heroes contest by Sept. 25.

Rudd’s encouraging the region’s passionate soccer community to celebrate its next generation of leaders – young players who show the same commitment to their teammates and communities that they bring to the field.

Through next Friday, families can nominate a local soccer player ages 7–15 who demonstrates leadership, service, mentorship and sportsmanship.

Two grand-prize honorees will each earn a $25,000 grant for their nonprofit youth soccer organization. Two runners-up will each earn a $10,000 grant for their organization.
